The European Union has set ambitious goals for the future of digital Europe. According to EU’s “Digital Agenda for Europe”, the goal is to bring download rates of 30 Mbps for all EU citizens, with at least 50 percent of European households subscribing to internet connections above 100 Mbps by 2020. Cur-rently, only 5 percent of European households have connections of 30 Mbps or above. The goals are very challenging and we see that meeting them can prove costly without the right technology decisions.
