Teleste Video Surveillance reinforces public security for the Helsinki Underground

2 September 2013 – Teleste has received a video management, transmission and recording solution order from Stanley Security Oy. The order concerns a public transportation security system for tunnels and stations of Länsimetro that is building the western extension for metro traffic in the Helsinki metropolitan area from Ruoholahti, Helsinki to Matinkylä, Espoo. The west metro will be 13.9 kilometres in length and bring 7 new stations. Upon completion it will transport over 100,000 passengers every day.

Teleste provides comprehensive and vertical segment specific video surveillance solutions based on own and third party products that fulfil the highest international standards. Currently, Teleste’s video management system is already installed at Helsinki Underground in all existing stations, allowing the metro passengers to enjoy safe and flexible public transport. The new order will further expand the system for the better protection of the public against crime and potential terrorism, as well as for smooth operation of the underground traffic.

Teleste’s deliveries will include products from the Teleste VMX Video management software, MPX encoder and CFO fiber modem product families, as well as technical integration and configuration services related to the video system. The system deliveries are expected to be completed during 2014, and the value of the order is approximately 1.3 million euros.
