FiCom (Finnish Federation for Communications and Teleinformatics) is a cooperation organization for the ICT industry in Finland. On April 22-23, the organization held its biannual Cable Days seminar under the title “TV everywhere”. Gathering together the Finnish television field, the seminar offered overview of current Pay TV market, the relationship between broadcast and online TV, and the European HbbTV-market.
At the event, Teleste’s Hanno Narjus presented about the DOCSIS 3.1 technology as an option for delivering high-speed broadband to subscribers via upgrading their cable networks. The technology ensures broadband speeds of 1 Gbps for individual subscribers. In practice, it means that subscribers are able to enjoy reliable access to Internet-based applications and services such as downloading 4K and ultra HD video for which high-speed connections are essential.
For operators, DOCSIS 3.1 offers a competitive way to market gigabit speeds to consumers on a large scale. Combining DOCSIS 3.1 and mobile technologies opens up possibilities to offer true TV everywhere services that enable subscribers to utilize top-quality connections and watch their desired content regardless of time and location.
Teleste has been a forerunner in bringing DOCSIS 3.1 compliant products to the market. We will showcase our portfolio at ANGA COM 2015 in Cologne, Germany, June 9-11. You are welcome to visit us at our stand E19 at hall 10.2.
