Waterside Security System

Video surveillance for San Diego harbor. Deployed to detect terrorist activity against domestic U.S. ports.
SPAWAR and the United States Navy have created the Waterside Security System (WSS) project, which is a “Post 9/11” program meant to comply with the Department of Homeland Security’s “Force Protection Policy” against threats to harbors, ports and terminals, and other overseas activities. WSS uses strategically placed visual, thermal, radar, and sonar sensors to optimize the surface and underwater detection of hostile intruders. The sensors are fully integrated with the WSS as a comprehensive surveillance network for perimeter surveillance, port surveillance, and force protection.

Teleste technical support was a key factor during the troubleshooting and successful appraisal of the San Diego WSS sensor data network. Teleste personnel worked on-site with Intelesis Technologies Corporation technicians to resolve the
camera addressing and bandwidth issues, Data Bridge address scheme, and so forth, and provided long-term technical support via phone. The Teleste Encoder/ Decoders have performed flawlessly since activation on/or close to April 19, 2003.
