Teleste shows Monitoring as a Service for headend platforms at IBC2017

The new service, already in production use, makes it easier than ever for operators with a Teleste Luminato headend in operation to carry out their broadcast TV services.

Turku, Finland – 8 September 2017 – Teleste Corporation will demonstrate a new service concept for all operators with a Teleste Luminato headend in operation. The concept, called Monitoring as a Service (MaaS), is designed to help operators in their daily work to keep broadcast services up and running, monitor the quality of video streams and offer an excellent TV experience for their customers.

We will highlight the new service at IBC2017, 15-19 September at Amsterdam, RAI. Please, come visit us at stand 5.B68 to learn more. For information about our IBC2017 highlights, visit www.teleste.com/ibc2017.

Today, over-the-top television is significantly shaping the TV experience. The new generation of consumers enjoys services such as video-on-demand, live streaming, social TV and audience interaction. And there are still a large number of TV viewers who are attracted to linear TV and the rich service bundles offered by many operators. While consumer demand is diversifying, we at Teleste want to provide our operator customers a safe and future-proof solution for carrying out engaging, top-quality broadcast TV services for years to come”, shared Petri Viitala, Director of Network Product Global Support at Teleste.

Assure the service quality of your headend streams

Monitoring as a Service (MaaS) offers operators an easy and reliable solution for preventive and reactive monitoring of their headends. Outsourcing monitoring issues to Teleste makes it easier than ever to carry out broadcast TV services.  We can take care of all necessary hardware, software and people resources as well as ensure qualitative and fast information transactions on system performance and availability.

MaaS is a viable solution for all operators with a Teleste Luminato headend in operation; and it also allows monitoring of third-party devices through SNMP. The service continuously monitors your systems, listens to all traps, and immediately sends information on system health and status. The timely information enables the proper corrective actions to take place before possible problems in the system affect your customers.

The service can be easily adopted for your changing requirements and scaled according to your specific needs. You can choose the service level that meets your needs best, from basic headend monitoring to advanced operative services for you entire system. All selected services are covered with a monthly fee, which helps you reduce capital expenditure and allows flexibility in capacity and resource planning.

Taking advantage of the new possibilities in headend application design

Monitoring as a Service runs on the Teleste Luminato application module that harnesses the Luminato headend with a full-featured Linux computer. Utilizing the application module brings freedom to headend application design and allows for the development of headend applications for even highly specific needs. Many of our customers have already grabbed the opportunity and transformed their innovative ideas into real-life headend services. Some of these applications will be demonstrated at our IBC2017 stand, so please come meet us at the show to find out more!
