Here you can find explanations on technological advantages in Teleste amplifiers, nodes and passives.

Information to make right decisions

Features in this category help operators to make the right decision based on real-time information.

DS/US analysisIntelligent HFC network products equipped with a transponder can offer visibility over the whole frequency domain. For example, ingress and CPD detection and analysis might be needed when the upstream is unstable, whereas downstream analysis can cover single channels or a whole downstream frequency range.
Flexible upstream pilot generatorHMS (Hybrid Management Sublayer) transponders are able to send upstream pilot signals on programmable frequency. Their levels can be detected, e.g. at the headend, while measurement results can be used to optimize or realign upstream gain and slope. The Pilotgen technology accelerates the process, and field technicians can allocate their time for other matters instead of generating test signals in the field.

Reduce power consumption

Features in this category help the operator to reduce power consumption and minimize the CO2 footprint.

Power saveHFC network products equipped with the saWe technology help operators to reduce power consumption. For example, channel load can be used to balance the performance VS power consumption. In low-power mode, this technology lowers power consumption up to 30% per product. On a bigger scale, this means lower operating cost for the network and a smaller CO₂ footprint.
Active power factor correctionActive power factor correction minimizes resistive power losses in cables due to reactive power. Although passive power factor correction would be easier and cheaper to design, the active PFC is more effective in real HFC networks. In practice it allows operators to feed more amplifiers from a single location and save power and OPEX.

Fewer interruptions

Features in this category help operators to minimize network downtime and reduce manual work.

Remote Ingress SwitchingRIS can be used to attenuate, locate and isolate network upstream problems, especially ingress and CPD that enter a network via loose connections. Ingress may disturb hundreds of households sharing the same upstream. Isolating ingress issues on the edge of a network will limit the number of homes affected while problems are fixed. RIS offers a cost-effective way to tackle ingress because downstream can be used to control ingress switches, therefore transponders are not needed.
Two alternative diplexer filters in the input and output portsProducts equipped with Quattro technology support remotely managed diplexer filters. Traditionally a new downstream/upstream frequency split requires new plug-in modules. E.g. nowadays 65/85 MHz is a common split, which will be followed by a 204/258 MHz split in the coming years. Although field products support new frequencies already today, their diplexer filters are still upgraded manually, requiring a truck roll. This is laborious and complicated when HFC elements are in unknown or difficult locations behind locked doors. Quattro technology allows operators to make the upgrade remotely and to select the best moment to apply it. Fast upgrade and lower network downtime saves operational costs and reduces the number of irritated customers.
Integrated cable simulatorRF amplifiers are designed for all cable lengths and by default are optimized for longer lengths. Sometimes cable network elements are very close to each other. Products supporting the Coaxsim feature are equipped with an integrated cable simulator that eliminates the need for additional plug-ins to manage slope deletion. Products without the Coaxsim feature support the standard plug-in approach when cables are short.
BarrIER®BarrIER® is a multi-award winning patented technology that eliminates ingress and egress in an RF network caused by faulty connections. When connected the unique design applies pressure to maintain mating force of connectors giving improved shielding effectiveness. When the connection is detached, the signal path is disconnected and this prevents the noise issues, thus greatly reducing network outages and truck-rolls.
DurAplus+Passive products utilising Teleste’s patented DurAplus+ technologies reduce failures in the network caused by material creep. Additionally they maintain true ClassA++ screening effectiveness which is critical to operators to protect against ingress and egress, especially in LTE band.
Parallel Cable ClampProducts fitted with Teleste’s award winning integrated coaxial cable clamps benefit from improved connectivity performance. The unique parallel hinged clamp design allows for bare ended cables of different sizes to be connected to the passive device without the need to fit a traditional connector to the cable first.

Less work

Features in this category help operators to minimize and ease manual work and avoid human mistakes.

Automatic level and slope controlThe basic ALSC function adjusts the level and slope automatically when products are used in the network. The ALSC function in amplifiers is continuous while nodes have continuous ALC and the slope is adjusted during the configuration phase. ALSC prevents service downtime even when external factors such as temperature require configuration changes. In the first instance, the basic ALSC is configured manually and external measurement devices are needed. More sophisticated alternatives such as Optima+ offer easier approaches. ALSC can be used to indicate network degradation and preventive network maintenance tools can use it to give early warning signals before a service interruptions occur.
Optimal Intelligent Manual AlignmentsProducts supporting Optima technology can simplify manual alignments. Instead of aligning separate amplifier stages, the technology offers users a universal control that automatically aligns gains and levels of amplifier stages in an optimal manner. Besides optimal performance, it offers faster installation, reduces work, and eliminates possible installation mistakes. Unlike the Optima+ technology, the Optima technology doesn’t require a transponder.
Optimal Intelligent Auto AlignmentsProducts supporting Optima+ technology can be aligned automatically. The technology includes an intelligent ALSC and does not require external measurement devices in the installation phase. Optima+ requires a transponder that also offers remote visibility to network elements and their settings. Optima+ ensures that amplifier settings are optimal, and so a lot of manual work can be avoided. Manual upstream alignment would require professionals who would not necessarily be available when network upgrades are ongoing.
Wireless configurationProducts having a USB socket (internal or external) can host a BT adapter. This enables wireless connection through Android-based mobile devices. Wireless configuration is also possible via any laptop that has the CATVisor Commander SW package. An unpleasant work environment will not slow down installations when element configurations are managed wirelessly.

Performance

Features in this category provide superior and future-proof performance.

204 MHz upstreamThe newest HFC network products support smooth upstream migration from 65 MHz to 85 MHz and to 204 MHz; typically this is managed with different plug-in filters. Besides higher frequencies, 204 MHz capable products can obviously cope with a full upstream load as well.
1218 MHz downstreamOur well-known HFC network products support smooth downstream migration from 862 MHz or 1 GHz up to 1.2 GHz. This can be managed remotely. Besides higher frequencies, 1218 MHz capable products can obviously cope with a full downstream load as well.
1.8 GHz downstreamThe newest HFC network products support smooth downstream migration from legacy frequencies up to 1.8 GHz. This can be managed remotely. Besides higher frequencies, 1.8 GHz capable products can cope with a full downstream load as well.
GaNHFC network products include carefully selected high-performance GaN components provided by the leading vendors. Use of the latest generation GaN technology enables amplifiers and nodes to have extreme RF performance without compromises.
