This connection point could be in a ducted network or more possibly in a non-ducted network i.e. where the FTTH cabling is directly buried in the ground. Thus, the connection point needs to be versatile enough to handle both these installation requirements and ensure the customer connection is made trouble free and long lasting. The enclosure should be rated for outdoor environments at IP68 and must be easy and simple to operate whilst maintaining IP68 integrity when closed, making drop connections safe and secure.
As the network could be designed to use connectors or direct splices, then both of these scenarios need to be accommodated. Also, the network and customer drop cables can be presented to the enclosure from multiple directions, so it is important that the enclosure supports multiple cable entry ports suitable for all the common sizes of FTTH fiber cables including through cables. These cables need to be secured safely and the fibers within routed effectively & efficiently to ensure their long operating life and performance required.

It is important that the enclosure is compact, easy to use and maintains IP68 integrity. It has a splice tray to easily connect between the incoming distribution side cabling and the outgoing customer drop cabling. It should also support through cabling with secure retention, and it should provide for fitting various adapters for standard connector types to support 2 customers.
The customer drop cables should be easy to install without impacting on the network side distribution cabling and have several cable entry port options. Customer drop cables should be securely held in place, and the enclosure should be easy to install in small Toby Box style chambers or directly buried in the ground. The enclosure should also be able to support network repair needs, providing a compact secure enclosure for splicing up to 12 fusion splices and containing securely in an IP68 environment.
