Systematic Supplier Management Brings Competitive Advantage and Customer Value

The supplier network is one of the cornerstones of Teleste’s supply chain. When supplier collaboration is systematic, transparent, and strategically managed – and when supplier performance is actively measured and continuously improved – it’s not just an internal sourcing process, it’s a direct competitive advantage that benefits our customers.

Why Is Supplier Management Strategically Important?

Teleste’s sourcing function is tightly integrated into the SIOP (Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning) process, and its role also extends to product management and R&D interfaces. Strategic supplier management means we don’t just monitor deliveries and contracts – we build long-term partnerships that support our business goals.

This is reflected in our ability to respond quickly to market changes, scale delivery volumes, and ensure component availability even during challenging times. In addition, sourcing must proactively address factors such as supply chain resilience and diversification, as well as geopolitical risk management, to safeguard continuity and flexibility in a rapidly changing global environment.

Equally important, we assess and monitor supplier responsibility through sustainability ratings, audits, and compliance checks to ensure ethical practices and environmental standards across our supply base.

What Does Systematic Supplier Management Mean at Teleste?

Teleste is currently developing a systematic supplier management model that will support strategic sourcing goals and strengthen proactive performance management. This initiative will help us improve delivery reliability, increase flexibility in delivery volumes, and enhance collaboration with suppliers – all factors that directly contribute to customer value.

In practice, this includes:

  • Activities aligned with the sourcing annual cycle, such as supplier meetings, audits, contract reviews, and price negotiations. The cycle also includes component risk planning, stakeholder meetings, sustainability assessments, and buffer and safety stock updates. These are examples of the annual cycle’s content – it encompasses much more and serves as the structural backbone for managing supplier collaboration.
  • Implementation of a Supplier Playbook, which defines shared rules and expectations for supplier relationships.
  • Use of sourcing KPIs such as Supplier OTD (On-Time Delivery), ECOVADIS and Sustainability ratings, DPO (Days Payable Outstanding), Target Price as well as quality metrics like the number of claims and PPM (parts per million), to guide operations and enable continuous improvement.
  • Early involvement of sourcing in product development and product management, enabling better cost control and faster time-to-market.
  • Risk management and supplier classification, which help ensure delivery capability and flexibility even in exceptional situations.

Customer Benefits: Speed, Flexibility, and Quality

A well-managed supplier network enables:

  • Improved overall delivery times: When our suppliers are committed and anticipate our needs, we can deliver to our customers faster and more reliably.
  • Flexibility in delivery volumes: We strive to adapt not only to forecasted volume fluctuations, but also to unexpected changes. Our aim is to ensure that our customers experience seamless deliveries, regardless of shifting demands, without disruptions or delays.
  • Reliable deliveries: Systematic supplier management ensures that deliveries arrive on time and in the correct quantity, reducing project risks and improving schedule control.
  • Better product and solution capability: Close collaboration between sourcing and product development enables access to technical support, innovations, and new solutions from suppliers – enhancing the customer’s product or service.
  • Sustainability and responsibility: Supplier sustainability assessments ensure that our supply chain meets environmental and ethical standards, supporting our customers’ own ESG goals.
  • Long-term partnership: Strong supplier relationships create continuity and strategic support for customers, especially in long-term projects or evolving business needs.

Teleste’s sourcing strategy is built to be forward-looking and continuously adaptive. Our ultimate goal is to create a sourcing model that delivers exceptional value to customers while ensuring efficiency, resilience, and long-term sustainability. By aligning practices across the organization, we enable faster, more flexible responses to market demands, support the well-being and effectiveness of our teams, and drive profitability through smart cost and capital management. At the same time, we cultivate strong, reliable supplier partnerships that guarantee quality, reduce risk, and advance the sustainability of our entire supply chain.
