Unveiling the legacy: Celebrating an era of reliability with our Luminato headend platform
Since its launch in 2008, our Classic Luminato headend platform has been at the forefront of the broadcast TV delivery. With its first installations in India marking the beginning of a remarkable journey, we have been proud to deliver more than 10,000 devices to customers worldwide, shaping the landscape of the video headend industry.
Celebrating this history, we launched the “Broadcast Hero” competition last autumn with a simple aim: to discover just how long a single Luminato device could provide uninterrupted broadcast TV service. However, beyond the hardware, we recognized that the true heroes behind the scenes were the skilled professionals utilizing our devices.
The response to the competition was overwhelming, with video teams and individuals from over 10 countries participating. Norway and Serbia emerged as frontrunners in uptime, closely followed by Finland. We found out that there are operational Luminato headend devices that demonstrate the real essence of resilience, with the longest uptimes exceeding 14 years and still going strong. Some of the devices even have running software as old as version 4.x from 2011.
Learnings from the competition underscored several key points:
- Long uptimes serve as evidence of the exceptional quality of our hardware. Our devices are engineered with durability and longevity in mind, utilizing high-quality components and rigorous testing procedures. This allows operators ensure high-quality and seamless broadcast services while maximizing return on investment.
- Continued functionality with older software versions highlights the professionalism in software implementation. Our commitment to maintaining compatibility and providing updates ensures that customers can leverage their existing investments while benefiting from advancements in technology and functionality.
- Customers reap the benefits of incredibly low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through reduced maintenance, lower operational expenses, and optimized resource utilisation. This empowers them to achieve their business objectives more efficiently while focusing on the long-term development of services.
Upholding the legacy of excellence, our journey already continues with the next-generation headend platform, the Luminato 4X4. Building upon the success of the Classic Luminato, the Luminato 4X4 continues delivering unparalleled performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for operators and video headend professionals alike.
Our Classic Luminato headend has not only stood the test of time but has also ensured seamless broadcast TV experience for millions of TV viewers worldwide. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, customers, and dedicated professionals whose unwavering support has been integral to our success. Together, we look forward to shaping the future of broadcast TV delivery with innovation, reliability, and excellence at the core of everything we do.
